Originally designed as a stability shoe for overpronating or heel-striking runners, the GEL-Kayano 5 combined the comfort of maximized cushioning, with a smooth, underfoot feeling. The current parlance might be content to call this entry in the Kayano series a "chunky" runner or a "dad shoe," but too much went into the performance side of the GEL-Kayano 5 to settle for such a superficial classification. 

Following up on their reissue of the original Gel-Kayano 5, ASICS outfit an updated version, the Gel-Kayano 5 360 with the Gel Quantum's full length, 360 degree Gel cushioning. The segmented Gel units give the classic Gel-Kayano 5 a fresh look, and state of the art comfort.
